Start Your Cause provides educational information and customizable document templates. It is not a law firm, accounting firm, tax preparer, registered agent, or government agency.
Not legal or tax advice
The service does not provide legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. Laws, forms, fees, and agency procedures change. You are responsible for reviewing every generated document, confirming current requirements with the relevant government agency, and obtaining qualified professional advice when appropriate.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your answers, decisions, filings, signatures, deadlines, payments to government agencies, and use of generated materials. Do not use the service for unlawful, deceptive, or fraudulent activity.
Subscriptions and government fees
Paid subscriptions provide access to the features listed on the pricing page for the applicable billing period. Stripe processes subscription payments. IRS, state, registered-agent, professional-service, and other third-party fees are separate and are not included in the Start Your Cause subscription.
Cancellation and billing help
Verified customers can use the Manage billing control to open Stripe's secure Customer Portal and manage or cancel a subscription. If that control is unavailable, email hello@startyourcause.org using the email associated with checkout. The site does not currently promise a free trial or automatic refund. Contact us about a billing problem; any refund rights required by applicable law remain unaffected.
Customers use an email address and password to access saved nonprofit projects. Questionnaire information is stored in the customer’s Supabase account and can be loaded on another device. Paid document access is granted only when the authenticated account email is associated with an active qualifying Stripe subscription.
Generated materials and service availability
Templates are provided "as is" and may not fit every organization or jurisdiction. Start Your Cause does not guarantee approval of incorporation, tax-exempt status, fundraising registration, grants, or any other outcome. The service may be changed, suspended, or corrected as requirements and product features evolve.
Intellectual property
You may use generated documents for organizations you manage. The site's software, branding, layout, and original educational content remain the property of their respective owners and may not be copied or resold as a competing service without permission.
Limitation
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Start Your Cause is not responsible for losses caused by reliance on outdated or incomplete information, missed deadlines, rejected filings, third-party services, or modifications made outside the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
